Opening a Swimming Pool, Second Day Adding a Flocculate or Clarifier

12 hours after adding clarifierNot much to report, the main pool pump’s bearings are shot and will have to be replaced. See my earlier articles for my thoughts on how a swimming pool’s expenses tend to add up.  I have added the flocculate and the solids suspended in the water are now sinking to the bottom. I will probably have to change out the main pool pump and pump motor. From a labor standpoint, motor and pump change outs are easy.  A little wiring and a little plumbing skills are necessary.  This time last year i had to replace the little fingers that reside at the bottom of a sand filter and that task was much more daunting.  Take a look at the number of cap screws(bolts) and nut that hold your sand filter together and you will wish you had a high speed impact driver.
