Actually I am guessing you are referring to Matt’s Letter from the Editor in the May edition. I read the letter before publication and while I appreciate your input, I fail to see the politicization of its content. Government waste when it involves home improvement projects is actually something our readership can appreciate. What better audience to hold our elected officials accountable than the people who visit their local hardware and home improvement centers to purchase the same products used in these government programs. Our logic runs like this, we know what it takes to weatherize a house because we do it. We see someone else do the same work and overcharge the customer for it, we bring this to light. In this case, we are the customer as a taxpayer and we are the ones paying the bill. So in response to the letter being political in nature, I see no mention of political party.
I will fathom to say that most of our readers are taxpayers and therefore they too are the customers who are overpaying for this program. Our job is to educate regarding home improvement. When the government gets into home improvement then it falls under our editorial coverage. If it does a good job, we will report it. If it does a poor job, we will report it. My thoughts are instead of government cheese, maybe we should get government spray foam insulation. The money would have insulated a lot more houses and actually moved the country in the direction of having to rely less on energy imports.
